If your baggage has been lost at the airport, immediately go to the Lost & Found office or Lost Baggage Office with your boarding pass and the checked baggage receipt (i.e., the adhesive tag that is applied to your identity document or boarding card when you check-in).
If your baggage is just late, that's great news because you can generally get it back the same day or within 48 hours at the latest. If, on the other hand, the baggage has been lost, you will have to file a report. In this case you will have to fill in the so-called PIR (Property Irregularity Report) form, in which you will have to provide as much information as possible about your luggage (colour, size, shape, brand and other indicative details of the suitcase concerned), as well as your contacts, address in situ and telephone number.
Lost baggage is usually found within 24 to 48 hours. When you make the report, you can also decide the delivery methods: if you prefer to collect it at the airport or have it delivered to you by courier at the in situ address provided during the report. Generally the airline will contact you to notify you when it is found.
If you have taken out AXA All Risks or Medical Baggage insurance, check the conditions of the policy and contact the Operations Centre to initiate the procedures for compensation.
Otherwise, if your baggage is not found within 21 days, it will be considered officially lost and therefore you will have the right to claim compensation through a claim with the airline.
In this case, we suggest checking the company's website for the methods, procedures and any required documents to attach (generally a copy of the PIR, air ticket, baggage slip and list of goods and values contained in the suitcase).
