Flying with your pet is generally possible but, before purchasing, check the airline's website to learn about the rules they apply for the transport of animals and to find out about the laws and restrictions applied by the countries of destination and transit.
If you want to fly with your put, we suggest taking the following precautions:
- Every animal, like humans, must have a passport that is issued by their veterinarian after having carried out a complete check-up that certifies the animal's good health to face the journey
- Check with your vet that your pet is able to travel by plane, especially if it will have to travel in the cargo hold
- Check the rules, regulations and restrictions applied on the airline's website. Not all companies allow the transport of animals and not all breeds can travel. In addition, some airlines allow the transport of your pet in the cabin as long as it does not exceed a weight between 6 and 10 kg including the pet carrier. Above this weight, the pet must travel in the cargo hold.
Considering that a limited number of pets are allowed on the same flight, always check with the company to make sure that your pet can board
- Check that your flight does not include stopovers in countries where your pet may not be accepted
Check the presence or absence of limits and restrictions in the country of destination through the Consulate, Embassy or official website of the International Air Transport Association (IATA ) - https://www.iata.org/en/programs/cargo/live-animals/pets/
