Airlines are required to provide assistance to passengers with motor, hearing or cognitive disabilities, the elderly and blind or visually impaired passengers. In general, the assistance services provided consist of:
- Assistance in carrying out airport formalities, including check-in and checking in baggage
- Assistance getting around the airport, where required, through aids such as wheelchairs
- Assistance for boarding and disembarking from the plane and baggage claim
- Assistance in using the toilets.
Each airline has its own policies that you should consult on the airline's website before purchasing a flight. In addition, the assistance service may be subject to availability; therefore, notify the airline or airport facility of your assistance needs at the time of booking or in any case within 48 hours from departure.
